PortWeather

Forecast and past comparison information to inform your retail operations and marketing decisions

PortWeather was codeveloped by MetraWeather and OMC International to provide ports with all the information they need in one place. The secure web-based platform brings together OMC's world-leading Dynamic Underkell Clearance (DUKC) and Berth Alert services with high accuracy forecasts and lightning information from MetraWeather & MetOcean Solutions.

Your Measurements

PortWeather connects to your existing measurement devices: wave buoys, tide gauges, current meters and meteorological stations. Alternatively, we can design or supply entire environmental monitoring systems to meet your port weather needs.

Flexible Delivery

PortWeather delivers measurements, forecasts, and hindcast statistics through a single online portal. Your team can access one consistent view of your PortWeather wherever they are.

Frequently asked questions

  • PortWeather is the ideal single interface for capturing all of your port’s weather related needs (removing the need for VTS, Pilots and Harbour Masters) to log into multiple websites. PortWeather can include observations from your instrumentation, wave forecasts, wind forecasts, lightning and specialised Berth Alert and Dynamic Under Keel Clearance (DUKC) solutions from OMC International. As such it is used by Ports Victoria and North Queensland Bulk Ports in Australia, and multiple ports internationally.

  • High resolutions wave forecasts are created and calibrated for your Port, providing the best available forecasts. Wind forecasts are also trained on local observations and contain probability of exceedance information to ensure safe operations and ship movements. All forecasts are verified against observations on a regular basis to ensure they are as accurate as possible.

  • The cost of the service will depend on the level of customisation for your port. However, packages for a single port location start from AU$1,500 per month.
